Ranbir and Shraddha Kapoor summoned in 'Mahadev' betting app case

Shraddha and Ranbir are the latest addition to the list of actors being summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Earlier on Thursday, the probe agency had summoned Huma Qureshi and Hina Khan for allegedly promoting the app and comedian Kapil Sharma for attending its success party in Dubai.

Ranbir, who was summoned on Wednesday, sought a two-week time from the probe agency to appear before it, as per Hindustan Times. The ED has yet to decide whether it will grant the actor that time. Ranbir, however, has not been summoned as an accused, but to understand his knowledge of the source of money he received to promote the betting app.

The summons issued to Ranbir and Shraddha Kapoor have raised eyebrows in the entertainment industry and among their fans. The actors have been asked to appear before the investigators to provide their statements and possibly shed light on any knowledge or involvement they might have in the case, according to a report by News 18.

The Bollywood actor has been a social media influencer for the online betting platform and has reportedly received payments for carrying out promotional activities for the app.

It is important to note that receiving a summons does not imply guilt. The actors are being called in for questioning as potential witnesses or individuals who might have information related to the case. However, this development has led to widespread speculation and media attention.
