Police crack girl’s murder case

17-year-old Fiza’s aunt arrested, confesses to her crime

KARACHI:

After a month-long investigation, police have cracked the blind murder of a young girl in PIB Colony by arresting a suspect, who happens to be the victim’s aunt, and recovering the murder weapon, gold ornaments, and cash.

Seventeen-year-old Fiza was brutally murdered inside her home in Nafeesabad, within the jurisdiction of the PIB Colony police station on September 5. The killers, who had initially fled after robbing the house, have remained unidentified until now.

The victim’s brother named Fahad registered a complaint and subsequently police initiated a murder case against four suspects which eventually led to the arrest of one of the suspects, Shehbaz. However, it took the PIB police investigators a month to finally resolve the mystery and arrest the victim’s aunt, Mehnaz alias Babli.

During the investigation, Mehnaz confessed to her crime. She revealed that she had broken into her sister-in-law’s house with the intent of theft. However, things took a different turn when her niece, Fiza, woke up and discovered her presence. In a panicked moment, Mehnaz struck Fiza on the head with a hammer, and, to ensure her silence, proceeded to strangle her to death.

After committing the gruesome act, she made away with the stolen jewelry. The accused later admitted to selling some of the stolen jewelry, with the rest still hidden at her residence.
