Eight groups underwent an eight-week online course on leadership development and gender equality

ISLAMABAD:

A project on female participation in robotics through mentorship and resources, with a focus on environmental and social sustainability, was the winner among eight ideas shared at a leadership moot in the federal capital Thursday.

The Women in Leadership (WIL) initiative of the British Council and SEED Ventures, was aimed at nurturing women leadership across diverse fields including education, technology, entrepreneurship, and the arts.

As part of the project, eight groups underwent an eight-week online course on leadership development and gender equality, which culminated with the closing ceremony.

As part of the project, grants of Rs3.85 million were allocated to support eight inspiring projects. They ranged from projects on financial literacy – including one in Balochistan – to programming skills, an online platform for widowed and divorced women, training transpeople to reduce waste among others.

Maarya Rehman, the deputy director of British Council Pakistan, said that initiative was as a cornerstone of their commitment empowering women across Pakistan.

“Leadership development isn't just a privilege; it is a fundamental need, especially in underprivileged communities,” said Shaista Ayesha of SEED Ventures while addressing participants and delegates at the event.
