The web series will be the only South Asian show to premiere at South By Southwest Sydney

Sajal Aly and Wahaj Ali's upcoming ZEE5 collaborated web series, The Pink Shirt, will be the only South Asian offering to screen at South By Southwest Sydney this month, as per Deadline. The rom-com was previously announced to be premiered at the London International Film Festival as well.

The Pink Shirt challenged me in ways I never imagined, delving deep into the complexities of human connections,” said Aly, while the Tere Bin star, Ali, added, “Portraying the complexities of human relationships in The Pink Shirt has been a remarkable challenge and the script demanded an exploration of emotions and vulnerabilities that pushed me as an actor.”

Previously, Zee5 producer and writer Shailja Kejriwal shared pictures of the pairing on her Instagram account. Sharing the first photograph of the two actors deep in thought as they devoured corn in a behind-the-scenes shot, the producer hinted at some big news that would be shared with audiences in due time.

The caption read, “Sharing some corn today! Will share some super thrilling news in a [couple] of weeks!” Sajal commented on the post with a fire emoji.

While the photograph itself was enough to get fans excited, Shailja also tagged renowned Pakistani screenwriter and director Bee Gul in the post, hinting at her involvement in the show. The producer capped off her caption with a hashtag that also revealed the title of the upcoming production, The Pink Shirt.

Shailja also shared another click from the shoot to her Instagram Stories where the Alif and Tere Bin stars sat on the grass in intent conversation, with the caption, “[Sajal Aly] and [Wahaj Ali] debating! When to share the news!”
