Victim’s mother held for honour killing bid

Woman attempted to kill daughter, believing that she was having extra-marital relations

KARACHI:

A woman tried to kill her own daughter, with the help of her son and son-in-law, believing that she was having extra-marital relations.

Although Farzana Nasir, her son, Adil and son-in-law Sheikh Masood Rafiq thought they had finished the job leaving Mirab and her three-year-old girl Jannat, critically injured, Mirab miraculously survived. Police have arrested the trio involved in the tragic killing of a child and the injury of a woman, all in the name of honour, in Surjani Town. According to Amjad Kiyani, the SHO of Surjani police station, the incident occurred on September 28 in the Siddique Goth neighbourhood. During the incident, Mirab sustained injuries while her three-year-old daughter, Jannat, tragically lost her life.

The detained individuals have confessed to their crime, he said. A case related to this incident was promptly registered at the Surjani police station. Acting on intelligence information, law enforcement managed to arrest three suspects, one of whom was a woman connected to the incident.
