KUNRI:

Police claimed to have arrested an alleged loan shark and recovered hundreds of ATM cards of government employees from his possession.

Police say they caught Manoj Kumar by chance while he was drawing cash from an ATM using many cards. On Sunday night, being the first of the month, a citizen called the police station and said a man has locked the ATM door and his employee is passing him on card after another to draw cash.

The SHO of the local police station also got alarmed and decided to check for himself. A police squad reached the spot and hauled away Manoj Kumar son of Khajuro Mal to the police station.

Police sources said that Kumar introduced himself as a resident of Chhachro city of the Thar desert and a famous money lender.

Sources said that the said usurer gives money to people, particularly government employees, by pledging their ATM cards, gold ornaments and other valuable items.

Kumar was busy withdrawing his monthly interest installments through the bank card of the government employees when police caught him.

It should be noted that hundreds of poor people have committed suicide because of such usurers.

In view of the dire situation, the government decided to file cases against the moneylenders.
