Worms attack maize crops

Agriculture officer states sprays could not be applied to fully grown crops

BUREWALA:

Farmers expressed concern over the attack of armyworms on maize crops and demanded immediate steps from authorities.

Maize has been cultivated across thousands of acres in Vehari, as it is considered highly profitable.

Farmers stated that they had spent huge amounts on cultivation. However, the recent pest attack spread immense panic as it would lead to low production and pesticides were not eliminating the worms.

An agriculture officer stated that sprays could not be applied to crops that had fully grown and recommended the use of amamactin to prevent pest attacks.
