Sustainable energy drive powers K-P forward

Province to establish 316 mini hydropower projects

Dr Syed Sarfaraz Ali Shah, the Advisor to the Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Energy & Power, has emphasized the abundant natural energy resources within the province, considering them a valuable asset that can drive transformative changes.

In the first phase, the province has successfully completed 316 mini micro hydropower projects with a total capacity of 29 MW. Additionally, ongoing efforts are directed towards establishing 291 more mini micro hydropower projects in the second phase.

Dr Shah underscored the province’s richness in oil, gas production, and water resources. He particularly emphasized the potential of hydroelectricity as a significant natural resource for electricity generation. Realizing this potential requires dedication and effective management.

The Energy and Power Department, along with its subsidiaries, including PEDO (Pakistan Energy Development Organization) and K-P Oil & Gas Company, is actively engaged in various development projects poised to serve as milestones in the province’s future development.
