Encroachments removed in operation

Building Control Authority successfully raze over 30 illegally constructed shops, issue notices to other shop owners

PESHAWAR:

Officials from the Capital Metropolitan Government, led by Deputy Director of the Directorate of West Zone, Zilhajja Ilyas, on Wednesday conducted an operation targeting encroachments in the Saeed Abad and Dillazak Road areas.

During the operation, the Building Control Authority (BCA) and demolition teams successfully razed over 30 illegally constructed shops while issuing notices to several other shop owners.

Numerous ramps and unauthorized extensions of these shops were also dismantled. Deputy Director Zilhajja Ilyas stated that thorough groundwork had been carried out by the staff prior to the operation, including the issuance of notices to shopkeepers.

They had been instructed to remove illegal extensions and goods obstructing the fronts of their shops, as well as to maintain clear footpaths for pedestrians.

Regrettably, despite these directives, some shopkeepers failed to comply with the orders, necessitating a robust anti-encroachment operation in these areas.
