12 killed in Punjab road accidents

The majority of RTCs, 73%, involved motorbikes

At least 12 people were killed and 1,243 were injured in 1,176 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) reported across Punjab during the past 24 hours.

Of the injured, 629 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 614 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams.

The majority of RTCs, 73%, involved motorbikes. Further analysis showed that 601 drivers, 53 underage drivers, 168 pedestrians and 486 passengers were among the victims of RTCs.

The statistics show that 290 RTCs were reported in Lahore with 312 victims, placing the Provincial Capital at the top of the list. Multan followed behind with RTCs and 85 victims and Faisalabad at third with 83 RTCs and 92 victims.

The details further reveal that 1,255 victims were affected by RTCs including 1,035 males and 220 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 167 were under 18 years of age, 700 were between 18 and 40 years old and the remaining 388 victims were reportedly above 40 years of age.

According to the data, 1,016 motorbikes, 72 auto-rickshaws, 86 cars, 26 vans, 12 passenger buses, 20 trucks and 154 other types of auto vehi cles and slow-moving carts were involved in the aforementioned RTCs.
