Citizen shoots two ‘fleeing robbers’

Reports about the incident to police, produces his licensed pistol

In an increasingly lawlessness in city, citizens have taken matters into their own hands, resorting to vigilante justice and delivering death penalties to muggers on the spot, marking a stark departure from civility.

In one such incident, a man shot two suspects dead who were fleeing after robbing people at gunpoint near the Town Office in Korangi within the remits of Zaman Town police station.

In this regard, Zaman Town SHO Zameer Khawar said that as per initial investigation the two suspects, riding a motorcycle, robbed citizens in a street near the Town Office and fled.

However, some citizens started their bikes and chased the suspects. In the hot pursuit, a man opened fire on the suspects with his licensed pistol due to which they lost balance and fell on the road.

The armed citizen shot the injured suspects again. Since they were injured and harmless, people started beating them with kicks and punches. By the time police reached the suspects were already dead. Their bodies were sent to Jinnah Hospital for legal formalities, where one of them was identified as Jamal Sadaruddin while the other remains unidentified.

When contacted, Korangi district SSP Hasan Sardar said that two pistols, four snatched cellphones, a wallet and Rs2,000 and a motorcycle were recovered from the alleged robbers.

The citizen who fired on the robbers, Nameer Bin Tariq, went to the Zaman Town police station and filed a report of the incident. A rent-a-car business owner, Nameer produced his licensed pistol for forensics.

According to police, Nameer's cell phone and wallet were also recovered from the suspects.

In a similar incident on Saturday night, people caught and killed a suspect who was escaping after looting people near Farooq Azam Mosque in North Nazimabad.
