SIALKOT:

Deputy Commissioner Adnan Mehmood Awan initiated measures to enforce the Land Use Rules of 2020, calling for immediate issuance of notices to commercial buildings in the jurisdiction of the municipal corporation, district council and municipal committees in Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur.

The structures include shops, plazas, schools, petrol pumps, service stations, hospitals and marriage halls. The directive was issued during a meeting of the District Planning and Design Committee in Sialkot, attended by various local government officials. Deputy Commissioner Awan also approved 65 cases for land use conversion during the meeting, with a total fee amounting to Rs235 million.

He emphasised the application of a flat rate for land use conversion and urged building inspectors to expedite the fee recovery process for approved cases. Awan stressed the importance of adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the law when granting approvals, adding that cases outside the legal framework should be promptly dismissed.

He directed the district planning officer to issue notices regarding constructions along designated ‘List A’ roads that have yet to submit the land conversion fee.
