Two cops arrested over extortion charges

Police constable injured along with his accomplice as he tried to attack a house with a hand grenade

A police constable was injured along with his accomplice as he tried to attack a house with a hand grenade in the Khyber tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Friday.

A police official said that the accused had been demanding extortion money from a local resident and, when he declined to pay, they tried to attack his house with a grenade which exploded prematurely, injuring both of them.

“The incident took place in Nogazi Baba in the Shalober area of Bara. The accused, Constable Abdul Qadeer and Sajid Afghani, were injured who were shifted to a local hospital from where they were arrested,” said a police official while talking to The Express Tribune.

After the incident, police took action and arrested the chowki in charge along with other staff who were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
