LAHORE:

A five-member committee has been formed to review the situation regarding the proliferation of an eye infection, with its primary goals being to submit a comprehensive report within three days and provide recommendations to prevent such incidents in future.

Dr Asad Aslam Khan from King Edward Medical University was designated the committee's convener, with other members including Director General Drugs Control Muhammad Sohail, Dr Muhammad Moin from Mayo Hospital Lahore, Dr Tayyaba from Lahore General Hospital and Prof Dr Mohsin from Services Hospital.

Caretaker Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Dr Jamal Nasir  told the media on Saturday that stocks of the injection causing the infections had been withheld and sealed and added that drug inspectors across Punjab were mobilised to stop the sale and purchase of the injection.

A directive was also issued to all doctors and patients to not use that particular drug and medical stores, wholesalers, and distributors have been prohibited from selling it. The drug had been sent for laboratory testing.
