RAWALPINDI:

Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench Judge Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan Friday rejected the bail appeal of a convicted fraudster who was found guilty of cheating a citizen.

The cashier of the Central National Savings, Samina, was awarded 22 years in prison with a fine of Rs10 million for looting a citizen promising extra profit.

The court declared that this fraud by the government employee along with fellow employees is intolerable and no exception can be given.

Talib Abbasi, the assistant attorney general, claimed that the female cashier defrauded 70-year-old pensioner Muhammad Ashraf by giving him a 10% profit while transferring the money to a new account with the assistance of the clerk and security guard.

The old man’s deposit was stolen, and the perpetrator is not entitled to any leniency, he added.
