Four killed, 15 injured as bus overturns on motorway

A bus, en route from Peshawar to Lahore, overturned due to a tire burst near M-2 Kotmomin Motorway, resulting in four fatalities and 15 injured passengers.

The deceased were identified as Khudad (50) from Peshawar, Noor Bibi, Saima Bibi, and Adam Khan. Those injured included Muhammad Farooq, Muhammad Khan, Arshad Mehmood, Saeed Khan, Rehmatullah, Raja Walli, Danyal, Halum Khan, Nazir, Intizaar, Anwaar Khan, Sakeena Bibi, and others.

Rescue 1122 transported the injured and deceased bodies to RHC Hospital Midh Ranjha and DHQ Hospital Sargodha.

Commissioner Ajmal Bhatti and Deputy Commissioner Shoaib Ali expressed their condolences and directed hospital authorities to provide the best possible medical care to the injured.

Meanwhile, at least 14 people were killed and 1,253 were injured in 1,202 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours. Of the injured, 651 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 602 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams.

The majority of RTCs, 76 percent involved motorbikes. Further analysis showed those 598 drivers, 42 underage drivers, 167 pedestrians and 502 passengers were among the victims of RTCs.

The statistics show that 289 RTCs were reported in Lahore with 292 victims, placing the Provincial Capital at the top of the list. Faisalabad followed behind with 85 RTCs and 85 victims and Multan at third with 67 RTCs and 68 victims.

The details further reveal that 1,267 victims were affected by RTCs, including 1,019 males and 248 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 172 were under 18 years of age, 692 were between 18 and 40 years old and the remaining 403 victims were reportedly above 40 years of age.

According to the data, 1,023 motorcycles, 76 rickshaws, 108 cars and 129 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the aforementioned RTCs.
