A man allegedly shot his sister and nephew dead over a property dispute in Badar Colony on Tuesday. The accused and the victims lived in the same house.
Police said 60-year-old Khalida Parveen and her 45-year-old son died on the spot while the suspect fled the scene. The deceased was a retired government school teacher. Police shifted the bodies of the deceased to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
RPO Sahiwal Mehboob Rasheed issued a notice on the double murder of a woman and her son and ordered the suspect’s arrest as soon as possible. He further ordered DPO Pakpattan to deploy cutting-edge technology to apprehend the suspect within 24 hours.
SDPO Arifwala Tariq Javed Awan and other police teams arrived at the scene as soon as the incident was reported. Crime scene units and forensic teams collected evidence from the crime scene.
Meanwhile, DPO Pakpattan formed a special team under the supervision of SDPO Arifwala to arrest the accused. DPO Pakpattan Tariq Wilayat reached the crime scene in Arifwala after receiving information about the incident.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim had a property dispute with the accused.
Unfortunately, people killing their relatives remains frequent within Punjab. In June of this year, a man allegedly suffocated his sister to death with a pillow in Khurrianwala. Police claim that the killing was ‘in the name of honour’.
Rehana Raiz, 22, sister of Asghar Ali, resident of Chak No. 256/RB, Dhenganwala area of Roshanwala Police Station, was married to Iqbal Tariq Javed two years ago, and she was living in her brother Asghar Ali's house because of a dispute with her husband, police said.
During this time, she ran away from home twice.
