After delivering a string of blockbuster films in the South Indian cinema industry, director Atlee made his debut in Hindi cinema with Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan. The film, initially conceived as a pan-Indian project, featured a star-studded cast, including Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, and Deepika Padukone. Jawan has now become a massive hit and is on track to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, the director of the blockbuster hit expressed his admiration for the character Vikram Rathore from the film and hinted at the possibility of a spin-off. He said, "Vikram Rathore is my hero. Maybe one day, I will make a spin-off for that character." Atlee further revealed his fondness for writing strong father characters, which is evident in all his films.
Jawan concluded with a promise of a sequel, as the characters Azad and Vikram prepared for another mission, this time to combat corruption related to Swiss banks. When asked if he has discussed Jawan 2 with Shah Rukh, Atlee explained, "Every film of mine has an open end but to date, I have never thought of doing a sequel to any of my films. For Jawan, if anything strong comes to me, I will make a part two. I have kept an open end and I can come up with a sequel now or later. But definitely will come up with a sequel to Jawan one day."
In addition to discussing Jawan and the potential sequel, Atlee also revealed that he is in talks with South Indian superstar Allu Arjun for an upcoming project. The director touched upon various aspects of his career, the global stardom of Shah Rukh, and the possibility of a two-hero film featuring SRK and Thalapathy Vijay.
