You are more than just Ken, you are a true partner: Malala showers love on Asser Malik

Pakistani women’s empowerment advocate penned a loving birthday wish for her husband

Girls’ education activist Malala Yousafzai took to her Instagram profile yesterday to share a sweet birthday wish for her husband, Asser Malik and notify her 2.6 M followers of the happy occasion. The carousel post consisted of five pictures, of which three were of the young couple photographed at different scenic locations, likely when they were on vacation or sightseeing.

The post also included a candid, side-profile, solo picture of Asser on a golf-playing day. This picture was followed by another fourth picture of the pair as they stood next to golf gear and posed against the backdrop of an expansive golf course.

“Happy birthday to my favourite person in the world, @asser.malik,” wrote Malala at the beginning of the love note. “You are more than just Ken to me; you are a true partner,” continued the sweet birthday wish, with Malala alluding to one of her previous posts on Instagram in which she jokingly referred to herself as a Barbie with a Nobel Prize and her husband as ‘just Ken’.

“Every person should be so lucky to have someone as supportive, caring and kind by their side. You make every day together an adventure, and I am so excited to continue to explore whatever the future holds. PS I will let you win golf today because it’s your birthday,” concluded the caption as the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate praised the former General Manager of High Performance at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for his commitment to being a supportive and caring partner.

In the birthday wish, the Oxford graduate also appreciated her husband's ability to live life like a fun adventure and his dedication to taking her along for the ride each time. Malala ended the note by joking that she would let Asser win their golf match that day in celebration of his birthday—making it clear that playing golf was an activity the duo enjoyed doing together.
