Foolproof security plan for Eid Miladun Nabi
The district administration along with the police has devised a foolproof security plan ahead of Eid Miladun Nabi celebrations in Rawalpindi.
To ensure strict security, the district administration has banned the entry of heavy vehicles, donkey carts and horse carts to operate on the Milad procession routes. Brandishing weapons, aerial firing, playing trumpets and drums along with holding sticks are prohibited. Moreover, carrying flags of political parties during the procession is also banned.
According to sources, violators will immediately be booked under the terrorism laws.
Orders have also been issued to install 300 closed-circuit cameras for monitoring the Milad processions. Sources said more closed-circuit cameras will be installed from Fawara Chowk to Dingi Khoi Chowk. A regular control room will also be set up in the garrison city.
Furthermore, 4,000 police personnel will be deployed while army and rangers will remain on red alert. There will be tight security on Jamia Masjid Road, Bani Chowk, Kohati Bazaar, Murree Road, Committee Chowk, Iqbal Road, Fawara Chowk, Raja Bazaar and Dingi Khoi as they are the main procession routes.
In addition, police personnel will be deployed on rooftops to monitor routes. Milk and tea stalls will be set up on the procession routes to facilitate participants. Aerial surveillance of the procession will also be conducted. There will be 100 reception camps for the reception of the Milad Committees which will distribute trophies for best naat and decorations.
From Sunday, September 17 onwards, markets, buildings, plazas and houses will be decorated while beautiful arches will be installed on roads in both the city and cantt. It has also been announced that the entire city will be decorated with colourful flags and electric lanterns. Moreover, special prizes will be awarded to the best decorations.
On the other hand, 5,000 small and large and two central Milad committees of Rawalpindi city and Cantt have called for a meeting on Sunday for the preparation of 12 Rabiul Awwal. As part of the celebration, sweets and fruits will be distributed among the inmates of Adiala Jail and patients in hospitals.
