‘State must ensure women’s rights’

WDD conducts training program on ‘Gender Mainstreaming’

The Punjab Women Development Department (WDD) is working to advance gender equality, equal opportunities, and the dignity of life for women, recognizing their pivotal role in fostering sustainable economic growth and social development.

In pursuit of these goals, the WDD recently conducted a two-day training program on 'Gender Mainstreaming, Gender Responsive Planning, and Gender Responsive Budgeting' for officers of the Cooperatives Department.

The training aims to boost officers' capacity with essential gender knowledge and ethics to promote women's inclusion and societal contributions.

During the event, Secretary of the WDD, Samira Samad, emphasized that achieving gender equality and providing women with equal opportunities is a shared responsibility. She underscored that when women have the same opportunities as men, both families and society at large benefit. Secretary Samad stated, "It is the duty of the state to play a pivotal role in granting women their rights and ensuring equal opportunities based on gender equality."
