Sleuth submits report on top cop to RPO
The SP Regional Investigation Branch (RIB) has completed a high-level departmental inquiry into the alleged misuse of authority and other serious charges against an SP and his staff, including an SHO, posted in the garrison city.
Sources said the report of the inquiry along with the recommendations have been sent to the Rawalpindi RPO Syed Khurram Ali.
According to the details, an SP of the Police Service of Pakistan, who is said to be a close relative of an Additional IG level officer, regarding whom serious complaints came to the fore following which the RPO appointed SSP RIB, Arif Shehbaz, as an inquiry officer to find out the facts.
According to sources, the SSP RIB summoned the SP along with his office staff and recorded their statements.
They said, the SP could not adequately respond to the allegations after which the SSP RIB compiled the report and sent it to the RPO.
The sources said a separate inquiry was also underway about the said SP after the information regarding the alleged renovation of two police stations by a private citizen and the presence of the said officer there came to light.
On the other hand, when The Express Tribune contacted RPO Khurram Ali to seek his stance on the inquiry regarding the said police officers, he confirmed issuing the orders “to determine the facts”.
“The report has come and, apparently, the allegations regarding the SP have not been proved, but there are, definitely, findings about some other officers and officials regarding which action will be taken as per the rules and regulations,” he said.
