The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department is set to offer the vehicle registration service at home to the residents of Lahore.
Training of the staff for the purpose has also been completed, according to a statement issued by the department. This facility is being launched under a Mobile Registration Service pilot project that will be expanded to the whole province in phases.
Citizens will be able to get their cars and motorcycles registered at home through the service free of additional charge for the time being.
A mobile squad consisting of a van and three motorcycles has been formed in Lahore. The excise staff will go to the applicant's house and receive vehicle documents after online registration fee payment.
The excise van will visit different city areas as per a schedule.
The applicant will use an online appointment system for registration of a vehicle at a specific time and location.
The owner will be allotted the registration number on the spot and the documents sent back through Pakistan Post after scanning at the excise office.
