KARACHI:

A man was allegedly shot dead by his wife's ex-husband at the doorstep of his home in Surjani Town in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to the police spokesperson, Muhammad Farhan Iqbal, 32, had married Surayya Bano six years ago. Farhan married Bano after she separated from her previous husband Zeeshan Malik. She also got possession of her children from Zeeshan. Farhan, a garments factory worker, was raising Bano's children and they also had three of their own, police said.

Farhan had filed a complaint at the Surjani Town police station that Bano's mother and brothers and her ex-husband were hurling death threats. He had told the police that his wife's family had kidnapped her and the children, took them home and pressurised her to leave Farhan and remarry Zeeshan.

Farhan also presented the voice message of Zeeshan in which he told Farhan to give back his wife (Bano) or be ready for dire consequences.

Muhammad Iqbal, the devastated father of the deceased, told the media at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital that besides the Surjani Town police station SHO, he had also sent plea for protection to SSP West, but the police did nothing.
