Over 66,000 appear in MDCAT

A total of 66,864 candidates, comprising 45,121 females and 21,743 males, participated in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) organised by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Sunday.

There are 3,376 MBBS seats in 16 public sector medical colleges and 240 BDS seats in three dental colleges in Punjab, with an additional 4,500 MBBS and 800 BDS seats in 45 private medical and dental colleges.

The examination took place at 29 centres in various cities, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Multan, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.

The UHS organized the test with 4,270 teachers on duty and district officials overseeing arrangements. The centers were sealed under Section 144 at 9:00am.

Tight security measures included police presence, medical teams, CCTV cameras, biometric verification and NADRA counters for candidates with disabilities were arranged.

In Lahore, 13,259 female and 5,755 male candidates appeared at various centres, with Multan hosting 13,591 candidates. The number of candidates in Dera Ghazi Khan was 3,064 and Bahawalpur 5,060.
