Father, stepmother held for torturing minor daughter

Minor rushed to Civil Hospital after video showing her ordeal reached authorities

KARACHI:

Police have detained a man and his wife for allegedly torturing their 12-year-old daughter. The victim, identified as Anusha, daughter of Imran Elahi, was rushed to the Civil Hospital for urgent medical treatment after a video showing her ordeal reached the authorities.

According to the official statements from the spokesperson of the Keamari police, preliminary investigations have unveiled that the victim’s stepmother, Gulnaz, beat Anusha with a hot iron rod, leaving visible burn marks on the young girl’s body, at her home in Musharraf Colony within the Mochko police station limits.

The incident came to the light when concerned individuals reported the violence to the authorities, prompting swift action by the Mochko police. Anusha was immediately taken to Civil Hospital.

For the purpose of investigation, both the father and stepmother of the young victim are in police custody. Further legal proceedings will be determined based on the forthcoming report from the Medico-Legal Officer (MLO).
