Man, son lose life in book shop heist

Victims tried to get hold of fleeing robbers on which they opened fire

Two men lost their lives after being critically injured during a robbery heist at a book shop in Korangi on Thursday.

According to the police, two alleged robbers opened fire at the victims, 70-year-old Muhammad Hussain and his 37-year-old son Asad Hussain for offering resistance during the robbery incident.

A video statement from an eyewitness, Fahad, said that two robbers entered the Prince Book Shop while their third accomplice waited outside. The bandits attempted to get away with a box containing cash and other valuables kept in the shop. Hussain and his son Asad tried to catch the fleeing robbers and get the cash box back from them. On which the bandits opened indiscriminate fire on them and fled from the scene leaving them injured.

The owner of the shop and his son sustained critical injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital but lost their lives while being provided emergency medical aid.

The wife of the book shop owner collapsed and lost senses after hearing the tragic news. Talking to The Express Tribune Abid Hussain, the second son of deceased Muhammad Hussain said that his mother was in serious condition.

The area people protested condemning the incident, and called for the arrest of the murderers at the earliest. The police registered a case against the unidentified robbers on the complaint of deceased's second son, Abid Hussain.
