KARACHI:

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that putting up banners and posters will not solve the problems, false propaganda is being done against our leadership, and we have to end the "dhakkan" thinking. Doing politics on missing manhole lids stinks.

Addressing the opening ceremony of girls' cycling parade organized by Town Municipal Corporation Lyari on the occasion of Pakistan Defence Day on Sunday, he said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto promoted his daughter.

On this occasion, Lyari Town Chairman Nasir Karim, Lyari Town Municipal Commissioner Hammad N.D Khan, Pakistan Peoples Party South District President Khalil Haut, General Secretary Karamullah Waqasi, Aslam Summon, EC Mantha and others were also present.

Mayor Karachi said that instead of positive endeavours people stoop to negative politics and thrive on propaganda. Both the incidents in Mawach Goth and Malir are sad but Murtaza Wahab did not go to these areas and steal the lids of the manhole.

No political worker would want any mother's child to fall into the sewer. He blamed the drug addicts and scavengers for the missing manhole covers.

He further said that all town officials belonging to any party can procure manhole lids free of cost from KMC. Regarding rising numbers of women and girls participating sports from Lyari, he said parents of this district tell their daughters they are not less than anyone and encourage them to take part in sports.

He said that there is immense talent in Lyari, and we have to highlight this talent, Lyari has produced many famous sportsmen, and there is a craze for gymnastics and football among the youth here, the Sindh government of PPP has built a sports complex in Lyari.

The leadership of PPP has always included Lyari in its priorities. Soon, All Karachi Football Tournament will be organized in which teams from different areas of Karachi will participate.
