‘Countywide strike shows peoples’ verdict against govt’
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rahman, has described the recent strike as a collective verdict by the people of Karachi against the ruling regime.
He emphasised that the successful strike, which spanned across the country, is a reflection of public sentiment towards the country’s political elite.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, he extended his gratitude to the citizens of Karachi and, in particular, the business community for their overwhelming response to the strike call issued by JI Pakistan Ameer Sirajul Haq.
He highlighted that the entire nation is grappling with a distressing situation due to rising inflation and increased electricity and prices of petroleum products.
However, despite these challenges, the caretaker prime minister has downplayed the need for a strike. Naeem cautioned the caretaker premier against disregarding the sentiments of the masses, cautioning that aligning with the narrative of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) could have consequences.
He went on to criticise the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for depriving Karachi residents of their rightful entitlements, asserting that the city’s inhabitants would not accept the dominance of feudal lords in the metropolis.
On the same day, Naeem visited the family of the four-year-old victim, who tragically lost his life after falling into an open sewer in Karachi’s Baldia Town.
During the visit, he extended his condolences to the victim’s father, uncle, and other family members.
He decried the criminal negligence exhibited by the government and the administration, holding them responsible for the tragic loss of innocent lives one after the another.
