Interactive session on block printing held
Textile artist Maham Irfan conducted an interactive block printing workshop at the National Art Gallery on Wednesday, with participants getting hands-on experience in the art of block printing.
The session, organised by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), allowed participants to delve into the world of block printing, learn about tools, techniques and explore the art of creating intricate patterns on cloth bags.
Imran, who is also a faculty member at the National College of Arts, specialises in fiber art, education and weaving. Apart from teaching at the prestigious university, she has also exhibited her work nationally.
She instructed participants about the creative process that encompasses theoretical insights and practical experience as well as aesthetics, patterns, colour psychology and the intricacies of block printing.
Participants said her vast experience and expertise brought a unique approach to the world of block printing.
They said the workshop provided a comprehensive understanding of the tools and techniques utilised in block printing.
From understanding the significance of colour selection to mastering the use of printing blocks, we gained valuable insights into the art of textile printing, said one attendee.
