Woman hit by starvation attempts self-immolation

The rulers have sold the people into slavery to pay for their lavish lifestyles leaving the poor people to face rising inflation, said the sister of the woman who set herself on fire to end her life in public.

Naseema, 50, tired of starvation and begging for food from relatives and neighbours, used the few hundred rupees she had to buy some petrol and set herself afire to end her miserable life.

SHO Orangi Town Zahid Lodhi said that Naseema’s husband was unemployed for five months, she too was jobless. The couple lived in a rented house. They had accrued back-rent, debts of grocery stores, and neighbours.

Naseema’s sister told the police, “She left my home to go to another sister’s house when, Allah knows what got into her mind that she set herself on fire in the street.”

People nearby doused the flames and called an ambulance to rush her to Civil Hospital Burns Ward.
