‘Meesaq Centres’ now active across Punjab

Meesaq Centres, which aim to protect minority rights, have been established in all the districts of the province, including the provincial capital.

IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that the centres were activated across Punjab for the protection of minority rights and the promotion of inter-faith harmony. It should be noted that ‘Meesaq Centres’ are active in every district and sub-division with a majority population of minorities.

These facilities ensure the prioritised resolution of various problems faced by minorities. IG Punjab further said that Christians and other minority employees of Punjab Police have been appointed as staff in these centres, while RPOs and DPOs are personally monitoring the professional affairs of Meesaq Centres.

Dr Anwar further said that the Centres will play an exemplary role in fostering inter-faith harmony and a peaceful society and will provide services and facilities related to policing minority citizens in an easy manner without any hassle.

The IGP further said the Punjab Police is ensuring the protection of the lives and property of the Christians according to the covenant made by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The protection of property and places of worship is being ensured on a priority basis.
