This country is not real: Internet hilariously reacts to lion casually strolling in Karachi
In a truly astonishing twist of fate, the bustling thoroughfare of Sharahe Faisal in Karachi bore witness to an extraordinary and wholly unexpected event on Tuesday evening: a majestic lion, in a display of nonchalant grandeur, took a leisurely stroll down the heart of the city's main arterial road.
The awe-inspiring sight left both citizens and passers-by utterly mesmerised and struggling to believe their eyes, as they flocked in droves to catch a glimpse of this once-in-a-lifetime spectacle. When the news broke, netizens could not believe the sequence of events.
"The greatest part is the guy shouting, 'Oye whose lion is this?' The subcontinent is undefeated," said one user of X (formerly Twitter). "Imagine the power of Shahrae Faisal to destroy you that this lion isn’t even trying to pick on anyone. Walking like he’s going home after a 9-5 at Chundrigar," said another.
One X user recalled, "Saw somebody walking a literal tiger cub in Gulistane Johar back in the early 2000s when all the roads were dug up to put the huge drainpipes in. So, this is fine." Another sarcastically commented, "And they say there’s not much wildlife in Pakistan."
Some were taken aback by how nonchalant the people around the lion were. "Not them casually walking around it - this country is not real," said one user of the microblogging site. "Just a normal Tuesday," noted another. One X user bemoaned, "Why did I decide not to take Shahrahe Faisal today? Missed the fun."
In an almost surreal sequence of events, the lion's unhurried amble eventually led it to the parking lot of a prominent building situated in close proximity to Ayesha Bawany College. Faced with the unfolding marvel, swift-acting police officials swiftly arrived at the scene, taking charge not only to ensure the safety of the intrigued onlookers but also to manage the mounting crowds that had rushed to witness the unannounced appearance of this wildcat monarch.
Such was the gravity of the moment that even lines of vehicles promptly formed in front of Ayesha Bawany College as curious drivers and passengers alike sought to partake in the breathtaking spectacle that was unfolding before them.
The unfolding narrative, as pieced together by law enforcement, revealed that the massive feline had been in transit within a vehicle when, quite remarkably, it managed to extricate itself from its confines. In light of this audacious escape, the driver of the vehicle found themselves in the custody of the authorities as questions surrounding the incident continued to mount. The lion was eventually rescued after an hour-long effort. Its owner was also apprehended by the police, Express News reported.
