KARACHI:

The Pakistan Theatre Festival 2023 (PTF) is set to commence from September 8 to October 7 at the Arts Council of Pakistan.

With over 45 shows, talks and workshops, this year's festival is about transcending borders and embracing artistic collaboration.

Apart from 27 national theatre groups, the PTF will also welcome seven international theatre groups, hailing from Turkey, Sri Lanka, Iran, the USA and Germany.

From new and contemporary plays to cherished classics like ‘Taleem-i-Balighan’, the 30-day-long festival will pay homage to Pakistan's theatrical heritage and its maestros.

A significant aspect of the festival is its dedication to regional languages, such as, Sindhi and Punjabi. By doing so, the event not only fosters artistic diversity but also keeps alive the essence of native linguistic expressions.

Moreover, for the first time in the country, the PTF will include a physical theatre with the performance of UpLift Physical Theatre’s ‘Through The Waves’.
