Anoushey Ashraf ‘sincerely apologises’ to Pakistani-Christian follower amidst unrest
Popular Pakistani actor and VJ Anoushey Ashraf has recently been taking to her Instagram Stories to share her thoughts on the prevailing political and socio-economic unrest in the country. In a more recent upload to her social media, the actor responded to a Pakistani-Christian fan who was expressing concern over the discrimination against minorities to which Ashraf sympathized, wishing for “nothing but peace and prosperity.”
The Sehra Mein Safar actor was apologetic for the current realities for minority communities in Pakistan and expressed her shame in not being able to change circumstances for the better when a follower sent her message: “I’m a Pakistani Christian and recent events have left us [heartbroken]. Still praying for our land to heal.”
In response, the actor went to articulating her frustration with the façade of rights one is granted as she penned, “I’m so, so sorry. I feel ashamed for not being able to help make a difference. We speak about rights but are so far from it. If it means anything, I sincerely apologise on behalf of the entire Muslim community.”
She further wrote of the atrocious nature of this “disease” that has spread hatred within the country; “This is not us. This isn’t even human. Or [animalistic]. It’s a monster. A disease that festers and grows. I hope you know, no sound person would be an ally on this. I wish you nothing but peace and prosperity.”
However, as reported by propakistani.pk, this is not the first time Anoushey has been vocal about the law-and-order situation on her Instagram. The VJ also recently referred to the circumstances as “#lawofthejungle” when she spoke of the pitfalls of being a citizen in the country. She vented, “With thousands jailed and others afraid to even speak up any longer, maybe being a second-class citizen in a foreign country is better than being a third-class [citizen] in your own.”
