Gang of four confesses to ‘century of crimes’

Say gang part of larger syndicate operated by crime bosses from Karachi Central Jail

A gang of four suspects has confessed to committing 100 muggings. Korangi police station SHO Raja Khalid Mahmood said that the suspected robbers, Muhammad Hussain, Asghar, Yasir and Gibran, confessed before the investigation officers that they formed a group while being in jail. During questioning in the police interrogation room, the suspects stated that they were a small gang which was part of a larger syndicate run by the crime lords from the Karachi Central Jail.

The SHO said that CCTV footages of some robbery incidents are available with the police in which the arrested suspects were clearly visible. SSP Korangi, Tariq Nawaz, affirmed that the arrested four accused are responsible for the surge in street crime within the Korangi Industrial Area.

They were also involved in injuring citizens during mobile phone snatching incidents, the SHO said. The police have started a search operation to arrest their accomplices.
