CM orders drive against medicine hoarders

Says health dept will take measures against dealers, and stores selling substandard medicines

The Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Retired Justice Maqbool Baqar has taken serious notice of the shortage of life-saving medicines in the market and directed the health department to ensure their availability while taking strict action against hoarders.

In a statement issued from the CM House, the chief minister discussed the shortage of life-saving medicines and the presence of substandard medicines in the market with Caretaker Health Minister Dr Saad Niaz.

Furthermore, it was agreed that the health department would take strong measures against manufacturers, dealers, and stores engaged in producing and selling substandard medicines. Justice Baqar emphasised the need to deal firmly with those endangering innocent lives.

The chief minister also discussed the issues of dengue and malaria with the health minister. Both programmes will be intensified, and the local government was instructed to initiate anti-mosquito spray in their respective areas.

The chief minister also took notice of a jirga held in Ubauro, District Ghotki, aimed at resolving a long-standing dispute related to a love marriage.

Disturbingly, a minor girl was handed a penalty for getting married to a man of the opponent party.
