Governor commits funds for tribal uplift, basic amenities
Haji Ghulam Ali, the Governor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), on Wednesday reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring essential amenities for tribal communities.
He announced the release of funds to local government representatives, a step aimed at kickstarting
grassroots-level development projects.
Emphasizing the importance of peace for progress, he acknowledged the sacrifices made by tribal people for the nation’s sovereignty.
The governor engaged with a delegation comprising 45 tribal elders from Tehsil Shagai, South Waziristan. This group, led by Adnan Wazir, a former member of the provincial assembly, and Moulana Saleh, Chairman of Tehsil
Wana, conveyed their concerns to the KP Governor.
Notably, although Shagai was granted tehsil status in 2012, a formal notification has not yet been issued, which has caused problems.
The delegation urged the governor to intervene in this matter and high-lighted several other pressing issues. These included the establishment of a NADRA office in the area, infrastructure rehabilitation, road blacktopping in Mantoai and Santoi, construction of a hospital in the Shagai vicinity, and the completion of water supply and sanitation projects.
In response, the governor extended his full cooperation in resolving these issues. He stressed that the development of tribal regions remains a top priority for the government. To address the NADRA office concern, he assured the delegation that contact would be made with NADRA officials to deploy a mobile registration van for Shagai
until a permanent office is established.
Ghulam Ali also encouraged tribal elders to prioritize education for their children, including girls. He mentioned ongoing scholarship initiatives for students from merged districts, aiming to provide higher education opportunities and foster their contribution to regional development.
