Court seeks reply from NAB officials

Notices sent on Sharjeel Memon’s request in a reference pertaining to accumulating assets beyond means

KARACHI:

An accountability court in Karachi has issued notices to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials on the request of former Sindh information minister Sharjeel Memon in a reference pertaining to accumulating assets beyond means.

During the hearing, Memon and other accused appeared before the court.

The counsel for the accused adopted the stance that after amendments in NAB laws cases worth less than Rs500 million cannot be heard by an accountability court.

He said the reference pertaining to assets beyond means was below Rs500 million.

The court, on Memon’s plea, sought reply form the anti-corruption watchdog officials and adjourned the hearing of the case till September 8.
