Massive reshuffle in Punjab Police
A total of 19 senior officers of Punjab Police have been promoted to higher ranks, with a dozen of them undergoing transfers to new positions.
The promotions, spanning from Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to additional Inspector General (IG) levels, were conferred in a ceremony attended by Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the chief secretary and Punjab IGP Usman Anwar.
Among those elevated in rank, Ali Nasir Rizvi has been promoted to the grade of DIG Operations Lahore, retaining his position. Similarly, SSP CIA Liaqat Malik's advancement to DIG has led to his transfer as DIG Legal at the Central Police Office (CPO). Notably, he had previously served as DIG CIA following a reorganisation of the CIA wing as per the directives of IG Punjab, though this restructuring was later undone following orders from the Lahore High Court.
Further promotions saw Muntazir Mehdi stepping into the role of DIG Investigations and Monitoring at the Central Police Office (CPO).
Meanwhile, SSP Rana Ayyaz Saleem's elevation to grade 20 has prompted his continued service as CPO Gujranwala.
Sohail Zafar Chatha and Waqasul Hassan, after being promoted to grade 20, are now tasked with responsibilities as DG Anti-Corruption Establishment Punjab and additional DG ACE Punjab respectively.
Tauseef Haider's advancement to grade 20 has led to his appointment as DIG VVIP security Lahore, signifying a crucial role in maintaining security for prominent figures.
In another key promotion, Maqsoodul Hassan has been entrusted with additional IG responsibilities for South Punjab.
