Man shot dead resisting robbery in Lodhran

Killers leave punctured motorcycle while fleeing

A man was shot dead while resisting a robbery in the Saddar area.

Mohammad Amir, a resident of Basti Muradwala, stated in his complaint to the police that he, his brother Mazhar Iqbal, his wife Shinu Bibi and niece were intercepted while return home on a motorcycle after visiting a cousin admitted to the Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital on Saturday night.

He said three unidentified men on a motorcycle intercepted them near Darbar Khandu Pir, snatched the keys of the motorcycle and deprived the family of Rs5,000 and two mobile phones at gunpoint.

Mazhar Iqbal suddenly saw the light of a car and offered resistance to the robbers, upon which they opened fire and severely injured him. He succumbed to the injuries on the spot.

The complainant stated that his deceased brother had three children.

The robbers also beat up the complainant with sticks.

On receiving the information, the Saddar police cordoned off the area and found the punctured motorcycle of the killers, which they had left after the incident.

The police registered a case under sections 302 and 392 of the Pakistan Penal Code and started efforts to identify and apprehend the murderers.

District Police Officer (DPO) Hassam bin Iqbal formed a team to investigate the case.
