LAHORE:

The Pakistan Business Forum (PBF) has expressed optimism that the new caretaker government will help improve fiscal indicators and stabilise the country’s economy.

PBF Vice President Chaudhry Ahmad Jawad told media on Saturday that in a letter written to the caretaker prime minister, the PBF voiced hope that the current caretaker setup would focus on economic revival, besides paying attention to the uplifting of deprived areas.

Jawad cited that Pakistani rupee had depreciated by Rs163 against the US dollar over the past five years, which had adverse effects on the common man’s living conditions, businesses and manufacturing industries, besides hindering imports and exports of the country.

Opposing the free float policy, he emphasised that they had a very strong view that the currency’s free float was not suitable.
