ISLAMABAD:

Health experts had raised an alarm, warning that millions of teenagers and young people globally, including Pakistan, were facing an imminent risk of hearing impairment due to the prolonged use of headphones, earbuds, and exposure to venues with loud music.

According to Dr Junaid Shahzad, an ENT specialist, widespread use of these audio devices has led to an alarming increase in hearing-related problems.

Dr Shahzad further elaborated that the sounds from headphones and earphones played in close proximity to the ear, posing a potential risk to hearing. He further stated that these devices could generate extremely high sound volumes. When such intense sounds were emitted directly near the eardrum, they could jeopardize its regular functionality, potentially leading to hearing impairment.
