Risk of the disease rises with more rain forecast

Eleven new dengue virus cases were reported in the provincial metropolis on Saturday. According to Health Department sources, 1,030 larvae cases were reported in the past 24 hours, with many patients under treatment in different hospitals of the city.

Anti-dengue squads surveyed various indoor and outdoor places to detect dengue larvae during the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, the anti-dengue squad destroyed dengue larvae at 1,030 locations in the province during ongoing surveillance.

Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department sources told the media that 11 cases of dengue were reported in Lahore on Saturday, including four cases from Allama Iqbal Town, three from Cantt Area, two from Gulberg Town, and one each from Nishtar and Wahga Town areas. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore Rafia Haider is continuously performing spot checks to monitor the performance of dengue teams amid increasing dengue cases after rains.

She reviewed the performance of dengue teams in Shalimar and Cantt areas on Saturday and ordered that over 5,000 locations will be inspected on a daily basis. Meanwhile, she further announced in a recent statement that dengue surveillance would be increased in the wake of rain alerts from the meteorological department.

Issuing directions to control dengue, she tasked all Town Officers to complete the set targets on a daily basis and vowed to monitor various hotspots areas in the city with swift and strict surveillance. She further urged citizens to prevent water accumulating in their homes and surroundings.
