Love is hope: Syra Yousuf continues to impress with her faith and grace

During a recent guest appearance on Momin Saqib’s talk show Had Kar Di, Syra Yousuf opened up about her illustrious and diverse career as a video jockey, model, and actor and her experience of working on her two most-recent projects, Babylicious and Sinf-e-Aahan. but what she cleverly kept to a minimum were her thoughts on love.

Wearing a sleek, black, long-length kurta embroidered with colourful flower motifs, a matching fitted churidar pyjama, and flowy black organza dupatta with a vibrant digitally printed floral pattern, Syra looked beautiful as she stepped out on to the stage and in front of the live studio audience. The interview came just days after the long-drawn-out release of her and ex-husband Shahroz Sabzwari’s film Babylicious.

While conversing with Momin, she spoke about the evolution of the film and how it went from being pitched as a short film to becoming fleshed out as a proper feature film. She also confessed to not being fond of the title of the film initially, reminding viewers of the many hilarious reactions the public had and the amount of trolling the film faced when it was first unveiled. She admitted that she wanted the title to be changed to something else, but then changed her mind once she saw the film in its completed form and realized that the title fit the overall vibe of the story.

In a fun segment of the show where guests take center stage and lip-sync to popular songs, Syra and Momin danced and lip-synced to Rihanna’s famous We Found Love. This prompted the host to ask Syra “What is hope to you, Syra?” to which Syra replied “Love is hope”. Her response compelled the Raqs-e-Bismil actor to ask “What is love?” and the Project Ghazi actor quickly replied, “Hope”.

Syra’s answer was both cheeky and smart, considering her positive and non-controversial public image, as well as her history with ex-husband Shahroz Sabzwari. Syra and Shahroz were once the beloved ‘it’ couple of the Pakistani entertainment industry and many fans were heartbroken when the two announced that they were parting ways.

What followed the announcement was months of speculation regarding the reason behind the couple’s split, but Syra maintained a dignified silence throughout the entire period of her separation and divorce. She conducted herself with a lot of grace and many still praise her for the way that she chooses to rise above.
