ISLAMABAD:

Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Quddus Bizenjo has declined to endorse Ali Mardan Domki's nomination as the interim Chief Minister (CM) for Balochistan.

The responsibility of selecting a suitable candidate has now been delegated to the parliamentary committee.

Sources revealed that CM Bizenjo unexpectedly disappeared and handed over all protocol vehicles to the staff at Balochistan House in Islamabad.

A senior leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) stated that members of the parliamentary committee were waiting until 3 am, but CM Bizenjo did not show up. The leader requested anonymity due to the political sensitivity of the situation.

Subsequently, the parliamentary committee has assumed the mantle of nominating the caretaker CM, prompting opposition leader Malik Sikandar Advocate to propose a three-member committee comprising Abdul Wahid Siddiqui, Haji Nawaz Kakar, and Younas Aziz Zehri.

On the government benches, Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo, along with Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran and Zamarak Achakzai, are tasked with nominating the caretaker CM.

Sources close to CM Bizenjo disclosed his firm opposition to Ali Mardan Domki's candidacy, instead putting forth alternative nominees including Mir Hamal Kalmati and Senator Kahuda Babar.

The JUI parliamentary committee has submitted two names for consideration as the interim CM: Mir Usman Badini and Ali Mardan Domki. This has generated a schism among opposition members within the Balochistan Assembly.

Malik Naseer Shahwani, the parliamentary leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), has written a letter to the Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly, expressing reservations regarding the JUI's nomination for caretaker CM.

In a bid to find common ground, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, chief of the BNP, engaged in discussions with Maulana Fazalur Rehman, chief of the JUI.

Regrettably, no consensus emerged between the two parties regarding the appointment of a unanimous candidate for the chief ministership in Balochistan.

The situation remains fluid as stakeholders continue their deliberations and negotiations in pursuit of a resolution.
