Alhamra pays tribute to valiant souls

In a jubilant display of patriotism and artistic exuberance, this week bore witness to the grand commemoration of Independence Day.

The air was charged with national fervour as the streets adorned green crescent flags, while artists adorned vibrant costumes, infusing the ambiance with the spirit of celebration.

The Lahore Arts Council Alhamra emerged as the heart of the festivities, hosting an array of captivating programs that captured the hearts of the public.

The pinnacle of the week’s events was the monumental Independence Day ceremony held at Alhamra.

The day commenced with a solemn prayer ceremony, where heartfelt supplications were offered for the nation’s progress, prosperity, peace, and security. Distinguished dignitaries, including Secretary of Information and Culture Punjab, Ali Nawaz Malik, and Alhamra’s Executive Director, Muhammad Saleem Sagar, graced the occasion.

Amidst their presence, the ceremonial cutting of the symbolic independence cake and the tender planting of a sapling symbolising growth and hope resonated deeply.

Secretary Ali Nawaz Malik underscored the magnitude of this momentous occasion, reiterating the unwavering commitment to safeguarding freedom and honouring the pioneers of the Pakistan Movement.

A poignant flag hoisting ceremony witnessed an array of Alhamra officers showering the green crescent flag with petals, evoking a sense of collective pride. Prior to this, a poignant tribute was paid by a young girl to the valiant souls who fought for the homeland’s liberty. The event reverberated with the energy of a lively band performance, while a spirited freedom walk engaged the enthusiastic participation of the masses.

Adding a melodious cadence to the Azadi celebrations, an Azadi music show unfolded at Alhamra. Film producer and director Syed Noor graced the event as the special guest. The stage came alive with enchanting performances by renowned singers Maliko, Aman Ali, Saira Tahir, and Hasan Ali.

The rhythmic beats of drums intertwined with the exuberant energy of Bhangra dance, crafting an immersive atmosphere that left the audience entranced by the performances.

An artistic spectacle unveiled in the form of the “Alhamra Young Calligrapher” exhibition.

The inauguration was graced by distinguished architect Nayir Ali Dada, who was guided through the mesmerizing collection by celebrated calligrapher Irfan Ahmed Khan.

The exhibition showcased over 200 artworks crafted by 70 talented artists, providing a vivid glimpse into the realm of calligraphy.

The Independence Day week ushered in an added layer of joy as esteemed artists were adorned with prestigious awards from the government.
