Naran and other renowned tourist spots hosted a series of spirited events, including a marathon race, river rafting, rock climbing, and cricket competitions, engaging both locals and tourists on Independence Day.
Resonating through the lofty peaks of Kaghan Valley were resounding chants of "Pakistan Zindabad."
The event drew a substantial turnout of tourists and residents alike. After unfurling the national flag, KDA chief Dr Aimal Zaman paid homage to the Pakistan Army martyrs, dedicating the Naran ceremony in their honour.
Along with holding grand sports events, the KDA released as many as 5,000 trout fish into the Kunhar River.
The marathon race, commencing from Naran Bazar and spanning a two-kilometer stretch, saw over thirty participants. In Kunhar River, ten boats partook in a thrilling three-kilometer river rafting competition.
Rock climbing also drew the interest of dozens of enthusiastic participants. Following the exhilarating contests, winners were awarded prizes in recognition of their achievements. Dr Aimal Zaman highlighted that their mission encompasses the development of tourism in Kaghan Valley.
He said with the support of the European Union, the authority envisions several ambitious projects, such as the chairlift and a small dam in Naran aimed at enhancing the region's tourism prospects.
Furthermore, Dr Zaman revealed plans for underground electricity transmission in Naran. The envisaged small dam is expected to ensure a continuous and sustainable power supply for years to come.
