FIR filed after scenes from Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Jawan’ get leaked online
After releasing Pathaan in January this year, Shah Rukh Khan is all geared up for the release of his second biggest film of the year, Jawan. However, the news of video clips of Jawan getting leaked online has been making the rounds, as per Filmfare.
Shah Rukh's production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, and his wife, Gauri Khan, have reportedly filed a complaint against an unidentified individual for allegedly stealing and leaking video clips of the actor's upcoming movie. On August 10, an FIR was filed alleging theft under the Information Technology Act.
According to the FIR, the 'stolen' clips of the Dilwale star's anticipated film were shared on social media. It was further stated that the production house discovered that the film's video clips had been leaked online by some Twitter users. The complainant has identified five Twitter handles in the FIR and also shared details of the people who use these handles. Legal notices were sent to all the mentioned users but only one of the users has acknowledged the notice.
Earlier, Red Chillies Entertainment had filed a commercial suit in the Delhi High Court with regard to the video leak and managed to secure the court’s direction to Twitter to pull down the leaked videos.
According to the filmmakers, the theft of video clips has not only caused damage to the film but has also violated the Copyright Act. This, however, is not the first time the unreleased film’s clips have been leaked. It has happened on two occasions in the past as well.
Jawan is a highly-anticipated action thriller film directed by Atlee Kumar. It is co-produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Gupta under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner. Aside from Shah Rukh Khan, the film also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathiin in pivotal roles. Deepika Padukone has a special appearance as well. The film is slated for release worldwide on September 7.
