Coaching centre murder suspect caught after 7 months
The suspect who had shot and killed a student at a coaching centre in Gulshane- Iqbal has been arrested after seven months.
East district investigation police arrested Luqman and his accomplice Talha on the charges of killing Ahsan Akhtar with bursts of AK47 assault rifle in front of students and staff of the coaching centre where all three studied.
Luqman had pulled the trigger and Talha was with him.
Luqman and Talha had escaped to rural area of southern Punjab and remained untraceable for months.
However, as soon as they came back to Karachi, the network of informers alerted the police leading to their arrest.
The investigation police said that on January 6 this year, a 19-year-old grade XI student, Ahsan Akhtar, was shot dead by another student, Luqman a ninth grader, at a coaching centre near Madina Masj id in Block 13D of Gulshan Iqbal.
According to a senior police officer, students had fought over some issue a day ago on January 5 but the coaching centre management got them to reconcile.
However, on January 6, Luqman came with Talha and other boys with him, pulled out an AK-47 assault rifle from his bag and opened fire on Ahsan, and escaped.
Both the victim and the accused were residents of Gulshan Iqbal Zia Colony slum.
Meanwhile, in July, a Sindh High Court bench on July 6 ordered the police to arrest the accused involved in a shooting incident that claimed the life of a student at a coaching centre in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
The order was issued by Justice Salahuddin Panhwar while hearing a plea on Wednesday.
July 6.
Muzamil Mumtaz Meo Advocate, the petitioner's lawyer, stated that the accused forcibly entered the coaching centre on January 6, indiscriminately firing rounds from a Kalashnikov.
As a result, a student, named Ahsan, was killed.
While the police did file a case, the investigation has been marred by negligence, undermining the pursuit of justice.
Additionally, the trial court had issued a nonbailable arrest warrant for the accused, but the police inaccurately recorded their residential addresses, further impeding progress.
The court ordered the police to promptly take the accused into custody and produce them before the trial court.
Police succeeded in the catching the suspects on August 13.
